Carthage Athletics Appoints Robert Xiong Director of Esports

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Robert Xiong as Director of Esports.

Xiong has been a graduate assistant in the Carthage Esports program since August of 2022. While in the assistant role, Xiong evaluated athletes' skills and reviewed performance records to determine potential in particular areas of improvement, organized and conducted practice sessions, and analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams to develop game strategies.

"Robert brings a lot of knowledge to the table for Carthage Esports," commented Athletic Director Ryan Kane. "I am excited to have him begin his coaching career here at Carthage. His passion for Esports coupled with the ability to create meaningful relationships will certainly allow our student-athletes to thrive under his leadership."

"I would like to thank the Director of Athletics Ryan Kane, and the search committee for selecting me to be the next Director of Esports here at Carthage!"

Before arriving at Carthage, Xiong was an Esports Intern at Lakeland. Xiong facilitated daily practices and film, ensuring that players and equipment were ready for every game, communicated thoroughly with Head Esports Coach Ahman Green about upcoming fundraising events and competitions, and provided information about our Esports program to new prospective students through the Admissions Office.

Xiong received his Bachelor's in Sports Management and Leadership from Lakeland and his Master's in Sports Management from Carthage.

"Everything I have done throughout my professional career is to be in this position, and I am forever grateful for everyone who has helped me along this journey. Carthage is destined for greatness with its beautiful campus and great academic programs here, and I am excited to be part of it! I am so excited to work here for many more years to grow the Esports program even more and compete at the highest level!"
